Podium discussions

On Wednesday 6th April 2011 at 5.30pm the conference features a Policy Podium. The podium will be chaired by Evan Davis, who is a British economist, journalist and presenter for the BBC. Discussants will include Charles Clark, who was UK Home Secretary from 2004 to 2006, Dr. Markus González Beilfuss, who is Director General of Immigration in the Spanish Ministry of Work and Immigration, David Goodhart, who is the founder and editor of Prospect magazine, a London-based current affairs monthly, Professor Malcolm Grant, who is the President and Provost of University College London and David Metcalf, who is the Chair of the Migration Advisory Committee. The panel will discuss the challenges to policy making from the diversity of interests affected by immigration.

On Thursday 7th April 2011at 6.15pm, there will be an Academic Podium. Discussants include George Borjas, Bob Gregory, Alejandro Portes
and Mark Rosenzweig. The panel will be chaired by Chris Giles, the economics editor of the Financial Times. The panel will discuss, among other topics, the role of academic research in the public debate on immigration.
